RUMI

drop dress and beuys beuys beuys toiles

These two toile's illustrate both ideas I will merge together for the final.
The drop dress has darts that slip from their original block positions.
The darts are then to be re joined in some areas with bar-tacks, its intended to
teeter on the precipice of elegance and sadness. Trying to reassemble/recompose itself in a
deflated sunken blaaaaaa.  The other toile is a panel exercise that will combine with
the drop dress ultimately. The panels will have applied to each one a different technique,
as seen before in my material exercises in previous posts.

spotlighting

The above images were taken to distinguish which techniques are provng the most successful under a single spotlight.
The captured effects are ultimately more subtle than they appear in reality. The harmony between them all is only realized when isolated under a single spotlight and framed through the lens. With future toiling I intend to play more with the absorbtion of light in contrast to it's reflection. Most these toiles where constructed using just a bodice block made from the stand. The development of  patterns onto which I apply these techniques, again to maximize the effect, is what I am working on at the moment as well as using post production techniques to again amp up the effect.

surface development

Working with viscose velvet, holographic silver and silver  heat
set foil. To create a patchwork holographic effect . the velvet is
intended to absorb the flash light and the foil reflect it back.
A velvet with a longer pile would probably be more effective.
The foil kills off the drape which is another relationship i will look into.
